The legal situation concerning gambling in Norway is very unusual. Gambling is permitted, including sports and horse betting along with several kinds of lottery. Live casino games, like poker and other similar games, are not allowed.
Update February 2019: Norway ends financial transactions to a few gambling companies with regards to Norsk casino players at online casinos, more specific the Norwegian Gaming Authority has banned payments to six Malta based gaming operators, under which Unibet, Betsson and few more operators alike. Norwegian banks are no longer allowed to send funds to these iGaming operators because they have been marketing their brands and offering betting and online casino services without permission. So as a result the Norwegian regulator has ordered banks in its jurisdiction to block payments to and from accounts identified as being used for the processing of gambling transactions. In fact until today, only two operations are licensed and regulated to market and accept bets within Norway.

Update June 2020: Facebook removes 36 unlicensed operators in Norway
The operators in question had been using Facebook to promote online casinos to Norwegian citizens. The information on the pages was written in Norwegian and encouraged citizens norwegians to register with unlicensed operators and this was in breach of the country's prohibition on marketing by offshore gaming companies. The regulator also noted that such activity was against Facebook’s rules, which state operators must have a licence to offer gambling in the particular country they are marketing to via their Facebook page. More specific: pages from Coolbet promoting Kommunepoker and Vennepoker, as well as pages related to ComeOn, Guts, Norgesautomaten, Vera and John and Pokio were all removed from the social media platform. Norsk Tipping holds the gambling monopoly in Norway and is the only operator currently permitted to offer online gambling. To remove illegal gambling pages is a good start but more must be done to tackle unlicensed operators in Norway, meaning that companies are also using other channels outside of social media to connect with players. These include television commercials, other websites, sponsorship deals and press releases. Last month, Norway’s parliament (Stortinget) approved a legislative amendment aimed at preventing offshore gambling operators from advertising their services to consumers in the country via the internet.
Update December 2020 Banking for Norwegian players
December 2020: Norwegian players are not able (anymore) to deposit or cash out with Skrill and NETELLER after 21 December 2020. So, after this date use other payout options, such as EcoPayz as an alternative for Norway (for as long as it takes). Our advice: consult the Cashier before you start playing! Carefully choose an option that allows you to both deposit money and withdraw your wins.
